The Chili Cook Off

A note from Lyn Smith, Coordinator of the Renfrew County Child Poverty Action Network.

Thanks to the generosity of four local restaurants East Side Mario's, Santa Fe, Kelsey's, and The Shanty House (who also were the hosts with the most!) CPAN raised $1,410...an amazing amount, especially as we had organized this on such short notice! I am very honoured to live in this community. Being in the Shanty and watching how hard everyone worked, and how many attended just reminded me what a great community we all live in.

The votes were tallied and the winner was Santa Fe (Pembroke)! (Number 2 for those who tried them all)

CPAN again thanks the restaurants that participated, Santa Fe, Kelsey's, East Side Mario's, and The Shanty House (who also hosted and provided desserts, dinnerware etc) and the local bakeries (Buns Master and Klaesi's) who provided the buns. Thanks also to Derrick and Johnnie who provided wonderful music for our enjoyment! And finally thanks to the supporters who came, enjoyed, and voted!

Everyone had such a great time that there is talk of this happening again next year!

Sincerely,
Lyn
